Boadview Heights, OH Fire Department Space Needs Study

Nestled in southern Cuyahoga County, Ohio, lies the vibrant city of Broadview Heights, a thriving suburb of Cleveland that seamlessly blends urban vibrancy with suburban tranquility. With a population of approximately 19,686 residents, Broadview Heights exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, its neighborhoods teeming with life and character.

Broadview Heights, Ohio needed to replace an aging fire station and move to a location that better served the city’s residents and improved the coverage map for the department. The city hired the Center for Public Safety to examine staffing and undertake a space needs study which would be used to find a new location large enough to handle an increased facility size and accommodate new and future apparatus and equipment.

Meetings with the Chief, command staff and personnel helped develop the need for future spaces as well as plan for future needs based on changing demographics. The new facility was programmed for six apparatus bays and featured a 1200 square foot community service, training and multipurpose space. Also included was an office space for the police department to maintain a presence in the facility for report taking and community interaction. The new facility would also feature a large work out/physical ability space as well as a burn tower with hose drying capabilities which doubled as a stairwell.
