Cape Coral, FL Public Safety Training Space Needs Study
CPS was retained by the city and Architects Design Group (ADG) to undertake a space needs study for a new state of the art public safety training complex. Cape Coral is a coastal community located on Florida southwest Gulf coast. The city featured miles of canals, most of which connect to the Gulf of Mexico through the Caloosahatchee River. Cape Coral held the title of fastest growing city in the USA for several years.
This growth led to a new police facility and recognition of the need for improved training. The city also understood that surrounding public safety entities lacked adequate training for police, fire, sheriff’s, 911, EMT and emergency management personnel.
CPS assisted in the creation of a space need study that projected an entire public safety educational and training campus to be housed across a 40-acre parcel of land to the east. The new complex intends to be more than a regional, but a national training center drawing instructors and students in many states. The complex would feature educational facilities, student housing and live-time training in vehicles, weapons, search and rescue and water circumstances.
