Miami Shores, FL Police Department Space Needs Study
Miami Shores is a village in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,567.
Miami Shores is located on the shores of Biscayne Bay, just north of Miami Beach. It is a highly desirable residential community, known for its beautiful homes, tree-lined streets, and proximity to the water.
The village has a rich history, dating back to the early 1900s. It was originally developed as a winter resort community for wealthy Northerners. In the 1920s, Miami Shores experienced a boom in development, with new homes and businesses being built all over the village.
The Village of Miami Shores is landlocked with open space at a premium. The police department was located in an older two-story facility which was originally used as retail and office space. CPS was retained to undertake a space needs study to determine current and future space needs. Located adjacent to the police department was a two story facility owned by Catholic Charities. The charity intended to vacate the facility to consolidate services in another location. Our study also examined this facility for renovation or removal and looked at the possibility of constructing a new police facility on the combined sites.
